What we do for Chinese New Year???

This is the year of 2007, the year of pig!!! I love pigs because i am the one of those...

This Chinese lunar new year, which starts on February 18, is believed to be an especially auspicious "The Year of Golden Pig" which only comes around every 60 years. I dont know why... but this year sounds like a very good year lol

Family Reunion Dinner

The most important and luxury dinner of the year
For my point of view, the new years celebration is started at the Chinese New Year' s Eve, folks all come home for this day, and prepare for dinner together, I missed the dinner this year because the stuipd Air Canada's flight was 6 hours late, that i couldnt catch up on the last flight for the night...sighs...Usually, I can help with wraping up the dumplings, or do nothing,lol... During the 15 days of the new year's celebration, believe or not, every single day is a eating day. I didnt feel hungry at all during those days at home.

Fireworks and firecrackers

what is it for??? It is for " frightening away evil spirits on the New Year!" Really? For me, It is just for fun. For some reasons, I kinda have to thank Air Canada, let me saw the night sky view of the entire Beijing at that night that moment. Fireworks and firecrackers were all over China... that scene, i never gonna forget...

The Spring Festival Gala Evening

This 4-hour special show holds by the Chinese Central TV Station plays at the New Year's Eve in yearly basis. Almost every Chinese family watches this special show at that special night. Oft-times, the elders are more enjoyed the show than Childern. I watches the show if nothing else i can do. Amazingly about this show, some one could become very famous after performing on this, Mark Roswell is one of them. This Canadian man is an very famous comic dialogue actor by speaking fluent Madarin. 80% of the Chinese people knows him as called him Da Shan in Chinese. I have been watching his performance since I was a kid. Nowdays, he is the one of the most successful foreigners in China.

Red-envelope money
money given to children as a lunar New Year gift

"A red envelope or red packet is a monetary gift which is given in Chinese society. The name comes from the red envelope in which the money is contained.Red envelopes are also presented on social and family occasions such as a wedding reception or a holiday such as Chinese New Year in which context it is also known as yāsuì qián."

As far as i can remeber, the most I got was 900 yuans. Right now, I have to give money to my little nephews and nieces.

I think this is enough for today, I wish you guys are all happier and healthier in the year of pig!!!
